Wells Fargo announced in December that it was ending its sponsorship of the Quail Hollow Club PGA Tour event in Charlotte, N.C., after this year’s tournament. It laid off about 2,400 employees, or 11 percent of its staff, in August. Not so much for Farmers as it faces headwinds in the insurance business. “There is no press conference planned, no announcement scheduled and there’s no doom-and-gloom. “There is nothing official and they are here this week,’’ Gorsich added. No one is saying, on the record, what Farmers will do after its contract expires. “We are excited to be back at Torrey Pines hosting the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open and the 2024 APGA Farmers Insurance Invitational and are looking forward to a wonderful week of golf,’’ Farmers spokesperson Carly Kraft said.
